Cropredy Part II

View all 13 photos...
Herewith the second lot of pics from the Fairport Cropredy Festival ... it chucked down with rain almost all day on the Saturday, but being stoical Brits we all braved the weather and got wet ... well, a bit of water isn't going to melt you, and then comes a point when you just can't get any wetter...! I bought a little "beach shelter" tent thingy last year for this very purpose, and damn useful it was too... as you can see from the pics, just about everybody else had the same idea!!

Amazing how little I miss it. On the other hand, thinking back, no it isn't Mon 15-Aug-2005 08:49

Fairport Convention at Cropredy (part 1)

I live near a village called Cropredy, where Fairport Convention hold their annual festival, which is attended, on average, by around 25,000. It's a very friendly festival and attended by people of all ages. This year I went with a mate, Dave, and my dogs. I took my tent up and camped for the night but cheated by coming home this morning for a shower and to recharge camera, phone, etc.! More pics tomorrow.

Some pics from the dog walk today...
These cows wandered up as we crossed one of the fields. Looking at the big black one I thought, "she's a big girl..." oops. No she wasn't - "she" was a big BOY!! Quick exit - Louie, of course, suffering from "Small Dog Syndrome" decided he had to fight it. Fortunately the bull just gave him a scathing look and ignored him!

Some nice shots amongst these m'dear! Tue 9-Aug-2005 10:14

On the set of the new Woody Allen Movie

View all 5 photos...
In my quest(s) to find new and exciting things to do; earn more cash; and get famous (amongst other things) I recently joined a casting agency who provide people for commercials, extras in films, etc.
On Sunday I got a call from said agent asking if I would be free to appear in a scene in Woody Allen's latest film. Ooh, difficult decision ... sit behind my desk at Spratt Endicott getting VERY bored, or ... sit in the Shepherd's Bush Empire getting mildly bored ... no contest (in spite of having to be at the venue at 7am, which involved getting up at 4am to leave Banbury at 5am!) The day did involve sitting around most of the day, but we were amply fed and watered and we could watch the actors doing their bits whilst waiting for our turn.
Herewith are the few not very impressive pics I managed to take. Woody Allen is the one in the maroon jacket - but you can see that, can't you??! Ian McShane (of Lovejoy fame) and Scarlett Johansen were there too - didn't manage to get pics of them, unfortunately

You never cease to amaze me! Thu 4-Aug-2005 15:58

Casper, his three friends James, Joe and Henry and I went to Magaluf last week. It was - how can I put it - an interesting experience. Only really the place to be if you want to get exceptionally drunk and laid (not necessarily in that order). Also the average age there is about 20, so antiquities like me were well out of place. I did try the getting exceptionally drunk thing on Saturday night, and was possibly drunker than I've ever been in my life, and I paid for it the next day with the Hangover From Hell, but hey, don't knock it until you've tried it!

Weekend

The London Eye
Kevin TRYING to look cool -check out the reflection in the specs
The London Eye, The Thames, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament
Did another driving job at the weekend, in London. Kevin Spacey, who is now director of the Old Vic, puts on an thing every year called the "24 hour plays" which is essentially a bunch of writers/directors/actors getting together to create a series of 10-minute plays inside 24 hours. Our job was to make sure all these people were conveyed to and from their houses to the theatre. The job was compounded by the fact that the temperatures in London were up in the 30's and very humid.
However, whilst the thespians et al did their bit during the day (the writing and rehearsing - the actual plays took place in the evening) we drivers were free to do as we pleased. I took the opportunity to take a few pics ... but spent most of the time under the cover of Covent Garden as it was just way too hot to stay out!
