Jelly Baby Orgy!
|
|
|
Plunging my hand into a bag of sweeties earlier today, I pulled out these: a bunch of Jelly Babies participating in an orgy!!
(what is the collective noun for jelly babies, anyway?!)

Emmeline's Collection
|
|
My son's clever girlfriend, Emmeline, is a fashion designer. Top Shop (UK clothes retailer for the young and trendy) is launching Em's own label, "Emmeline 4 Re:" which is a line of clothing designed and made entirely from recycled textiles (next time you donate any items to charity, this is where they might end up - profits from the collection go to the Salvation Army).
Last night we all attended the launch party at the Savoy Hotel in London - here's some pics.
Casper and Em stayed at the Savoy - I stayed in a broom cupboard at the Strand Palace across the road. My entire bedroom would have fitted into their bathroom!!!

Cobweb
|
|
I told a friend recently that when I take my dogs for walks, the cats come too (their choice, I don't make them!) and he didn't believe me.
So here's the proof...
Cobweb is a big tabby boy, soppy and docile, and Sparkle is a tiny black female who is a sweet and timid but a ferocious mouser!

Kasuku
|
|
Meet the latest member of my family!
Kasuku (it means "parrot" in swahili) is a 3 month old Orange Tipped Amazon parrot who has been hand reared by a friend of mine called Claire.
Isn't he gorgeous?

Casper aged two!

|
|
As most of you will know, I have a son called Casper. He's a handsome dude (I may be a bit biased) and he is, God forbid, 21 next Tuesday (20th September). Whilst in the midst of some confusion as to how he mushroomed into the fit young adult he now is when the last thing I can coherently remember is him being a baby, I couldn't let this momentous occasion pass without the customary ritual humiliation of placing the appropriate insertion in the local rag (the Banbury Guardian to be precise).
And here it is.

Here's a few from the last few days.
You all know my weakness for funghi ... I found this beauty on my way home from work.
The pic of the ground shows the large cracks that have appeared due to the exceptionally dry weather we've had - and in spite of the torrential rain of the last few days.
Pic 3 is my best friend, Lorne, who is currently on his hols in Spain.
Oliver and Cromwell live at the pub I work in part-time, The Reindeer in Banbury. You virtually never see them together to so this is a rare pic!
And finally ...
when I moved into my current house, three years ago, I planted an apple tree. This is the first apple I have picked from it... (tasty it was too)

As most of you will know, I do chauffeuring part-time, primarily to earn extra cash. One of the 'perks' (some of my more cynical friends would dispute this) is that we get to drive assorted actors, actresses, and 'celebrities' (as well as some who just THINK they are).
This weekend I did the biggest job to date, which was five days working at the Celtic Manor Hotel, driving the celebrities taking part in the All Star Golf Cup which was the brainchild of Ant and Dec, and held to raise money for charity.
Basically there were two teams: European and American. Our job was to collect the various competitors from their homes, airports, etc., and deliver them to the hotel (which was a FABULOUS place), and then to act as a 'shuttle' to take them from the hotel to the club house, about 1/2 a mile away. The hotel is set high on a hill outside Newport in Wales, built around an original manor house, and an eye-poppingly gorgeous place it is too, with a top-knotch sprawling golf course (the 2010 Ryder Cup is to be held there), fabulous views, and luxurious accommodation.
Amongst the people attending (not all were actually playing) were: Haley Osment (of 'The Sixth Sense', 'Pay It Forward', and 'Forrest Gump' fame) - I actually picked him up from Heathrow and drove him to the hotel, Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing in 'Dallas' - the guy who managed to have a year-long shower), Gavin Henson, Charlotte Church, Michael Chang, Peter Schmeichel, Damien Lewis ('The Forsyte Saga' and 'Band of Brothers'), Jamie Theakston, Jodie Kidd, Matt Dawson, Ant & Dec, (Sir) Steve Redgrave, Mark O'Meara (US golf ace and captain of the American team), Kirsty Gallagher, Ruud Gullitt, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Kenny G (saxophone player), Cheryl Ladd, Bradley Walsh (of 'Coronation Street' fame), Robbie Williams, James Nesbitt, and Terry Wogan.
The pic of CZ-J is crap but the best I could do under the circumstances. The security surrounding her was very high, she was allocated her own driver and car with blacked-out windows, spirited here and there very surreptitiously, and shadowed by bodyguards everywhere she went. Mere mortals (like me) weren’t allowed anywhere near her. This may seem over the top, but the poor woman was actually attacked TWICE by nutters during the course of the weekend, which makes the heavy security seem more understandable.
These pics are of all the people I drove during the course of the tournament (apart from CZ-J). Overtly taking pics of celebs is frowned on for us chauffeurs as we are meant to be professionals who are not star-struck (yeah right!), so I have to be sneaky when I take shots, which is why these ones are a bit iffy!! The better ones are just poached from a Google image search.
You will probably need to enlarge my shots as the detail is not great.
Oh, and the one of Robbie - it isn't a zoom image, I really was that close!!!

Today's pics
|
|
Here are a few pics from the last couple of days... the squirrels are residents of People's Park in Banbury. My pics are nothing like as good as Steve's (Clancy's Fotopage) but the little fellas are every bit as cheeky and friendly!!
The birds are in an aviary in People's Park, it has budgies, cockatiels, finches and a couple of others.
Oh, and if they seem a bit more blurry than usual, it could be due to the large gin and tonics I was forced to drink earlier on ...
