Last weekend Colin, Casper and I went to my cousin Ali's 40th birthday party in Cheltenham. It was held in Ali's brother Philip's photographic studio and the theme was "80s". Needless to say we all had a great time ... and just for the record, I think Ali looks bloody amazing for 40!!

PC Anonymous - you are probably right. However I'd be more impressed if you had the bottle to leave your identity alongside this pathetic remark.

Magz, leave an email address and I will pass it on to my son. And yes, he is gorgeous!

Those of you who know me will know about my love/obsession with spiders, hence the first two pics. The second two are of Sparkle, my dainty little black cat (every witch should have one!)

I've always thought blackcats have the nicest dispositions...I had one named "Blackcat" and he was my best buddy Tue 26-Sep-2006 16:35

Sunset over Minehead
The Ford at Tarr Steps (we drove through this!)

Last Sunday I went down to Somerset to camp at a farm on Exmoor. This was intended as a holiday for the dogs, who haven't really had a break this year.

We had a great time, but I made the following discoveries whilst we were there:

1. Never underestimate how cold it gets at night on Exmoor.
2. Never underestimate how hard the ground is on Exmoor.
3. Never underestimate the effect of a clotted cream tea on your digestive system!

Fairport Convention Festival at Cropredy 2006

The Stage

I spent the weekend at Fairport Convention's annual festival at Cropredy (as I do most years). The weather wasn't great - mostly cold and blowy with smatterings of rain - but the worst of it did hold off until, literally, the dying seconds of the festival when the Heavens opened and it POURED, solidly, for 12 hours, accompanied by howling gales.
Needless to say the night in the tent wasn't too clever!
Here's some pics...

Gives me the shudders even looking at it. Did you see Chris H has backslid and was doing pit security again? Foolish boy. Mon 14-Aug-2006 08:48

Edge Hill and That Tree ...

The Tree
Dead tree with funghi (my mushroom fetish again!)
The Castle Inn at the top of Edge Hill
View all 8 photos...
Curious as I am, I asked Mandie to show me the tree in the woods at Edge Hill. So tonight we (Mandie, her husband Alan, daughter Toni and my four dogs), paid a visit...

Edge Hill was the site of the first battle fought in the English Civil War on 23rd October 1642. Rumour has it that if you go there on the night of October 23rd, you can hear (ghostly sounds of) the battle. Never been, myself, but I'm willing to give it a try - if someone will volunteer to go with me!!
These really need to be enlarged, especially the night shots ...

Edge Hill Woods

This pic was taken by my friend Mandie in the woods at Edge Hill, near Banbury. Look at the bottom right hand corner...
Ok, for those of you who can't see it (you can be forgiven, the pic was taken on a mobile phone and the quality ain't great) look at the trunk of the tree. It doesn't enlarge too well, but you can see a sort of image of a face. For background, these woods are reputedly haunted ... they are the site of the Battle of Edge Hill in October 1642 (link: http://www.thevickerage.worldonline.co.uk/ecivil/battle_of_edgehill.htm for background).
Mandie swears there was nothing to see on the tree before she took the shot!
